Hassans hosts talk to learn more about 'Help Me Learn Africa' charity

Last week, Hassans invited Louise Barea, founder of the Help Me Learn Africa charity, to come and speak to staff members about the work they are doing in Africa. The presentation gave us an insight into the projects currently operating in Ghana as well as the Charity’s plans to expand into Kenya and Uganda.

Help Me Learn Africa was set up in Gibraltar on the 30th November 2018 and since then has built 2 brand new classrooms, a library and completely refurbished another classroom in Kewunar, Ghana which now makes it possible for around 350 children to receive education.

The first project in 2019 required volunteers to build 2 fully furnished classrooms from scratch within 4 weeks! The following year, volunteers built a fully stocked library (which is the largest building in the area). This year over 40 volunteers will be taking part with the aim of building a nursery which will have the effect of significantly improving the lives of many of the younger children.

Help Me Learn Africa also fixed the roof of Inua Mima orphanage in Kibera, Kenya and provides supplies such as books, tables, chairs, blackboards and food to schools in Ghana and Kenya.

The Charity’s next aim is to build Ghana’s first high school by 2021!

Here are some inspiring quotes from the Charity’s founder, Louise Barea:

"Every child deserves the right to education".

"Nothing would mean anything if I didn’t live a life that would be of help to others".

We have been working with Help Me Learn Africa for the past few months. If you are interested in getting involved, please visit their website www.helpmelearnafrica.com
