OTD: What Satoshi said...

The fact that no-one knows who Satoshi Nakamoto is (or was) makes him extremely interesting. I have been looking at his posts again on bitcoin.org which is something I don't think I will ever get bored of. I have decided to dedicate some of my posts to "What Satoshi said On This Day".

First one up was 11 years ago, 20 January 2010: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=22.msg113#msg113

Here Satoshi was responding to "The Madhatter" regarding making Bitcoin compatible with TOR (The Onion Router). Satoshi states that he had been thinking of adding the backend support for .onion addresses for a while.

Coincidentally,  just last week (14 January 2021) saw the release of Bitcoin Core 0.21.0, an update which includes new features, various bug fixes and performance improvements. This update added support for Tor version 3 which shows how far this has come since Satoshi first started thinking about it.

I've been thinking about that for a while. I want to add the backend support for .onion addresses and connecting to them, then go from there. - Satoshi
