Hassans has announced a three-year commitment to the Med Steps 5 Challenge, joining the event’s sponsorship panel for 2027, 2028 and 2029.
The annual Med Steps 5 Challenge brings the Gibraltar community together to tackle the Mediterranean Steps while raising funds for Cancer Relief Gibraltar, supporting the charity’s work with people and families affected by cancer. Registration for next year’s event, which will be held on Saturday 8th May, is now open.
The Challenge has grown into a significant fixture in Gibraltar’s community calendar. The 2026 event saw 600 participants from across the community take on between one and five, and in some cases more, loops of the highly challenging Mediterranean Steps and, together with the inaugural Beyond the Rock walk, raised £38,000.
All proceeds from the Challenge support Cancer Relief Gibraltar, whose services for people affected by cancer in Gibraltar, are provided free of charge.
Hassans’ sponsorship represents a longer-term commitment to the event, supporting the Challenge over the next three years and helping the organisers continue to build on its success.
Javier Chincotta, Managing Partner, Hassans, said:
“The Med Steps Challenge shows Gibraltar’s community spirit at its best: people coming together, encouraging one another and raising vital funds for Cancer Relief Gibraltar. We’re delighted to support the Challenge for the next three years and look forward to seeing colleagues from Hassans and Line Group taking on the Steps alongside the wider community.
The care and respite provided by the charity mean so much to people affected by cancer and their families. Over the last three years, Hassans has supported Cancer Relief Gibraltar through the Hassans’ Charitable Trust’s annual £5,000 donation, event sponsorships and staff fundraising initiatives. This support will continue, with the Med Steps Challenge sponsorship representing an additional commitment to the charity’s work.”
The Med Steps 5 Challenge is organised by Mark Cooper and the HM Government of Gibraltar Prison Officers, supported by volunteers who help deliver the event each year. People wishing to register can do so online through Buytickets.gi, in person at Chestertons Gibraltar (Ocean Village, Monday–Friday, 09:00–16:30) or Sprint Sports (Laguna Estate) or at one of their Open Days being held at the Piazza on Wednesday 3rd March and Wednesday 31st of March. Tickets are £25pp.
Hassans looks forward to working with the organisers and Cancer Relief Gibraltar over the next three years and playing its part in the continued success of the Challenge.
