Strongly voiced opinions on the new property tax measure proposals for Gibraltar.

The proposed new income tax measures relating to sales of residential property has been a topic of much debate over the summer and provoked a lively discussion on the first episode of the Autumn '24 series of Viewpoint on Gibraltar's local TV station, GBC.

Hosted by Ros Astengo, I was very pleased to be asked to join Gibraltar's Minster for Finance, Nigel Feetham KC, Shadow Minister Roy Clinton and Daniel Herbert, Senior Associate at Triay Lawyers.

The programme also sought opinions on the potential effect of the measures on the real estate market from local property experts including Mike Nicholls, Director of Chestertons, Ed Allison-Wright, Landlords Association, and Louis Montegriffo, Managing Director at BMI Group Estate Agents.

You can catch up on the discussion here.

The proposed measures are a sharpening of lines where there were once edges, this is not a new tax. www.gbc.gi/...
