Nigel is a barrister admitted to the Gibraltar Bar. He has practised law full-time since 1993 and was appointed as Head of the firm’s Financial Services team in March 2021.
Nigel has a strong international client base and has worked with some of the biggest names in the finance sector. He has also been a pioneer and a driving force in the protected cell company space, not just in Gibraltar, but also internationally. His professional experience combines regulatory, legislative drafting and transactional work. Nigel is the author and co-author of several books including “Protected Cell Companies: a Guide to their Implementation and Use” which was in May 2015 cited in Pac Re 5-AT v. AmTrust N.A., Inc., No. CV-14-131-BLG-CSO, 2015 a decision of the Federal Court of Montana (USA). He also writes on a wide range of topics on his Mondaq author page and on LinkedIn.
He graduated with a First Class Honours degree from Manchester University and was awarded a Masters degree in law with Distinction at Manchester Victoria University. Nigel was also formerly a Visiting Professor at Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University.
Nigel was appointed to the rank of Queen’s Counsel on Friday 5th April 2019.
