UK Budget 2025: Gambling Duty Reforms.

Today, Chancellor Rachel Reeves unveiled sweeping reforms to UK taxation.

Included within the Budget were the following measures:

  • Remote Gaming Duty - increased from 21% to 40% effective 1st April 2026;
  • Online Betting Duty – increased from 15% to 25% from 1st April 2027 (excluding horseracing, pool betting, spread betting and non-financial spread bets);
  • Bingo Duty – to be abolished with effect from 1st April 2026; and
  • General Betting Duty paid in person in betting shops – will remain at 15% but will rise to 25% in April 2027.

Clearly this will have a significant impact and be felt throughout the industry.

At Hassans, we are closely monitoring these developments and advising clients on strategic responses, including compliance, restructuring, and cross-border considerations.
