Hassans hosts UK Abraham Accords Gibraltar Chapter Launch.

We were delighted to welcome The Rt Hon Sir Liam Fox to Gibraltar last week for the launch of the Gibraltar chapter of the UK Abraham Accords Group. The attendees were welcomed by Hassans Partner Isaac Levy ahead of addresses from Sir Liam and Chief Minister Hon. Fabian Picardo KC MP.

Initiated in 2020, the Accords aims to promote peace, economic prosperity, and interfaith cooperation in the Middle East by supporting the objectives of the Abraham Accords. Their focus is on normalising diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab states, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Morocco.

The Gibraltar chapter is part of a broader global expansion effort and will see the launch of both an investment fund and an extensive social media project - specifically designed to talk to the youth that they are hoping to influence and support.

The initiative seeks to raise £100 million in its first year to support projects that foster trade, cultural exchange, and religious tolerance across the region.

This non-partisan, non-profit organisation collaborates with government and business leaders to strengthen ties in trade, culture, and religious understanding. By establishing a presence in Gibraltar, the group aims to leverage the territory's strategic location and international connections to further the goals of the Abraham Accords.

Sir Liam said:

“If you're waiting for the perfect opportunity in the Middle East, a time of peaceful coexistence, you'd be waiting a very long time, and what we have to do is engineer change. People say ”is that possible", and I say, well visit Gibraltar and see for yourself, it's already there, it's something we have to copy."

Isaac Levy, Partner at Hassans added:

The fact is that Gibraltar has shown how working together, having respect for each other, can really not just bring success in terms of a country as a whole, but also financially and in people's relationships between each other and I think that's what brings stability."

The Gibraltar chapter's activities are expected to include fundraising, hosting events, and facilitating dialogues that align with the broader mission of fostering cooperation and peaceful relations in the Middle East.

Gibraltar is a beacon of light in how communities can get on with each other, it's not about tolerating one another, or acceptance, it's much more than than, it's about mutual respect, there is so much respect, love and warmth between all the communities and this is the beacon of light we can share with the world - Isaac Levy, Partner, Hassans. www.gbc.gi/...
