Omri is an Associate at Hassans with expertise in FinTech, commercial law (including intellectual property, technology, SaaS) and data protection.

Omri works under Partner Anthony Provasoli (Tier 1 FinTech Lawyer – Chambers and Partners) as part of the firm’s reputable Fintech Team and, in addition to general corporate and commercial matters, is assisting clients with:

  • obtaining licences from the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission as Electronic Money Institutions and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Providers,
  • launching initial coin offerings, security token offerings, and initial exchange offerings,
  • and providing general advice on Gibraltar’s financial services.

Omri is also the co-founder and host at Blockchain Rock, a video podcast focused on the fintech industry and the people behind it.

Omri assists clients on a variety of IP matters including registration of trade marks, software protection, copyright infringement, IP ownership, and IP-related corporate restructuring, and with the drafting of standard licences, SAAS, data licences, NDAs, introduction agreements and Requests for Proposals.

He has also gathered in-house experience working as general counsel and dealing with the registration and the enforcement of intellectual property rights at Pass It Forward, an online platform to facilitate donations and charitable activities, and more recently through a secondment at Playtech, a prominent public company operating within the gaming space with an international presence.

Omri completed his law degree (LLB) at City, University of London through the Graduate Entry programme, followed by a masters degree (LL.M) in intellectual property law at Queen Mary University of London, focusing on the management and strategic use of IP rights in business, particularly in the creative industries, and on interactive entertainment law.

More recently, Omri has been actively involved with the establishment and the development of the Interactive Entertainment & Esports department of Hassans, as well as in promoting this industry in Gibraltar by liaising with the GEVGA (of which he is an honorary member), and stakeholders at different levels of the industry including professional players, teams, content creators and other interested parties. Omri is also a member of the UK Interactive Entertainment Association (UKIE) and the Interaction Design Foundation (IDF).

Omri is an IISP accredited EU GDPR Practitioner (IBITGQ) and a Certified Data Protection Officer (C-DPO, IBITGQ). In addition, he successfully completed the Oxford Fintech Programme, Said Business School, University of Oxford and the Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age online course from Harvard University.

Prior to pursuing a career in law, Omri worked as a sound engineer and audio producer in a small studio in London, which he co-founded shortly after having obtained the BA(Hons) in Audio Production at SAE Institute, between the campuses of Milan and London.
