Hassans delivers another first for Gibraltar

In December 2017, Hassans demonstrated, once again, why it is the leading law firm in Gibraltar by advising on the set-up of Gibraltar’s first Foundation.

The primary characteristic of a Foundation is that it exists and operates as a separate legal personality, with the ability to hold and manage property in its own name. (For a more in-depth look at how Foundations work click here.)

This new form of legal entity was introduced by the recently-enacted Private Foundations Act 2017, which came into force in April of last year. It offers considerable features distinct to the more traditional trust, and, following the successful set-up of Gibraltar’s first Foundation, Hassans is ideally positioned to assist in launching more in 2018.
